The estate planning interview has been designed so all necessary information for View to review the appropriateness of the instructions and to prepare the documents (for Compliance Service Level) or to prepare for the Strategy Meeting (for Comprehensive and Concierge Service Levels) is mandatory. That is, the interview is unable to be submitted without supplying that information.
Less information is mandatory in the Comprehensive and Concierge Service Levels, because we will obtain the remaining information to prepare the draft documents in the Strategy Meeting.
The Review Meeting (the only meeting in the Compliance Service Level) is not designed to take instructions – it is designed to review the prepared estate planning documents and ensure the customer understands them. If there is a desire for View to take instructions from the customer for any missing information necessary to complete the documents, then a Comprehensive or Concierge Service Level is required.
While some information requested in the interview is not mandatory, the information is requested because it provides further clarity for all parties. However, it may not be necessary for completion of the documents.
The minimum fields that you may need to complete for Comprehensive service level are as follows:
1. Introduction and Packages
a. jurisdiction
b. approximate value and details of the estate
c. life insurance cover, if there is any
2. Client
a. gender
b. prefix
c. full name
d. another name of the customer
e. occupation
f. relationship status
g. address
3. Spouse (if customer is married)
a. gender
b. prefix
c. full name
d. another name of the spouse
e. occupation
4. Parties
a. ABN or ACN of the entity, if there is any company or charity named in the customers’ estate planning documents
b. full names and addresses of the customer’s children
5. Children
a. dates of birth of the customer’s children – if unknown, then at a minimum, we require you to confirm whether the child is minor
6. Will Correspondence
a. adviser’s full name and address
Notwithstanding the above, ideally all questions in the Online Interview (Hotdocs Link) should be completed in full to provide the greatest understanding of the customer’s circumstances which significantly increases the understanding of the customer’s background before the lawyer meets with them and enable better rapport building. It will also minimise the likelihood of changes or redrafting of documents to enable swifter execution of documents for the customer and thereby keeping all parties off risk. Noting also, that if there are any changes to the draft documents with the Compliance Service Level then an automatic upgrade to at least the Comprehensive Service Level will apply. Should this occur, the additional meeting is optional, however the price point will be as per the upgraded service level.
